Memetic Engine

2005

Memetic Engine was an academic project built to explore iconographic memes in real time using keyword algorithms and folksonomy. It was developed using Ruby on Rails over a two-week period fueled by burritos, caffeine, and unbridled curiosity. By analyzing LiveJournal's image stream (provided at /stats/latest-img.bml), it identified viral memes and tracked their propagation over time. Memetic Engine was included in the Best Of showcase for graduating ICAM students at UCSD.

Many many thanks to Kevin Clark and Jordan Fowler for their teamwork and comradery.
